MURFREESBORO, TN – One man was killed as the result of a three-vehicle crash in Rutherford County on Wednesday morning, WTVF reports.
The incident happened at about 10:39 a.m. along Lebanon Pike near Cherry Lane Drive.
Responding officers believe the woman behind the wheel of a 2010 Ford Escape was heading south of Lebanon Pike when her vehicle drifted into the oncoming lane and collided with a 2013 Toyota Prius. The Toyota then skidded off the roadway and into a ditch.
The Ford spun around and struck a third vehicle, a 2020 Nissan Rogue.
The driver of the Toyota, a 66-year-old man, was extricated from his vehicle by firefighters using hydraulic equipment. He was rushed to Ascension St. Thomas Rutherford Hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries about an hour later.
The driver of the Nissan was treated for minor injuries at the scene. The woman in the at-fault vehicle was unhurt.
It is unclear if any charges will be filed in connection to the crash at this time.
