RUTHERFORD CO., TN – A man died following a major collision involving two semi-trucks on I-24 Thursday evening, WKRN reports.
The incident took place at about 4:30 p.m. in the westbound lanes of the freeway, near the exit to New Salem Road.
Investigators with THP believe one truck ran off the side of the roadway for unknown reasons and struck an overhead sign. The sign fell down into the path of a second truck, causing it to overturn and skid across the roadway.
The driver in the second truck, a 57-year-old man, sustained fatal injuries in the wreck. The other driver was unhurt.
