ASHLAND CITY, TN – One person has died after a crash that left a vehicle submerged in the Cumberland River on Saturday night.
According to NWTN, the fatal crash occurred on Old Cumberland Street in Riverbluff Park on November 27th.
Police were reportedly pursuing a vehicle when it took a turn along the Cumberland River at excessive speed. The vehicle excited the roadway and crashed into the river.
The Cheatham County Fire Department’s water rescue team was able to locate the vehicle using sonar technology. A dive team then retrieved the deceased driver.
The Cheatham County Sheriff’s Office continues to investigate the fatal crash and the pursuit that led to it.
