    2 hospitalized after head-on, rollover crash in Coopertown

    COOPERTOWN, TN – Two people were hospitalized Sunday morning following a two-vehicle collision on Highway 49 between Coopertown and Springfield, local media reports.

    A silver sedan and a black SUV collided head-on near Hwy 49’s intersection with Mt. Zion Road at approximately 6 a.m. on May 23. Fire rescue had to extricate one of the victims from his vehicle.

    Emergency responders transported a 20-year-old man to NorthCrest Medical Center in stable condition, and a 26-year-old man to Skyline Medical Center in serious but stable condition. The report did not say which driver was at fault.

    WHITES CREEK, TN – Injuries were reported following a motor vehicle collision on eastbound I-24 at the exit to Old Hickory Boulevard on Monday afternoon, the City of Nashville reports.

    Metro Nashville police were on the scene by 6:24 p.m. on May 24. No other details are available at this time, although the incident appears to have recently been upgraded to include injuries.

    12-year-old hospitalized after drowning incident in Madison

    MADISON, TN – A 12-year-old boy was rushed to a Nashville hospital after nearly drowning in a pool at an apartment in Madison, WKRN reports.

    Nashville fire units responded to reports of a drowning at a complex in the area of Berkley Drive and Gallatin Pike at about 7:30 p.m. yesterday evening. A security guard was performing CPR on the unresponsive boy when they arrived.

    The boy had apparently been playing with two other children without adult supervision. One of the other children noticed that the boy had sunk to the bottom of the deep end, and hauled him from the water.

    He was taken to Vanderbilt Children’s Hospital, where he remained in critical condition as of this morning.

    An investigation is ongoing.

    NASHVILLE, TN – Metro police are on the scene of a motor vehicle collision with injuries near Nissan Stadium, according to the city’s Current Traffic Accidents page.

    The crash took place at the intersection of Interstate Drive and Woodland Street, a block northeast of the stadium, shortly before 3:15 p.m. today.

    Fire destroys apartment complex in Nippers Corner

    NASHVILLE, TN – A two-alarm fire destroyed 18 units of an apartment complex in the Nippers Corner area of South Nashville yesterday night, News Channel 5 reports.

    The blaze broke out at the Brentwood Oaks Apartments, located at 100 Brentwood Oaks Drive, and could be seen as far away as I-65. Firefighters arrived on the scene by about 8 p.m.

    While no one appears to have been injured in the conflagration, 18 units were impacted, and many residents have been displaced. Nashville Fire Department spokesperson Joseph Pleasant was still trying to determine the exact number of affected residents as of this morning.

    Water pressure issues further complicated the response, as water needed to be diverted from the main water system with individual fire engines acting as relay stations.

    Further investigations into the cause of the fire are ongoing.
