MT. JULIET, TN – A 40-year-old man and a juvenile were hospitalized after being struck by an SUV while standing on the side of I-40 in Mt. Juliet on Sunday night.
According to WKRN, the crash occurred at about 8:30 a.m. along I-40, near mile marker 223.
Troopers believe the victims were standing outside of a disabled box truck when an eastbound SUV swerved and hit the truck. The SUV then rolled an unknown number of times and struck a tree before catching fire.
The driver in the SUV was able to escape without injuries. Both individuals standing next to the box truck were hospitalized in unknown conditions.
