NASHVILLE, TN – Two people were struck and killed on I-24 eastbound while fleeing the scene of an accident Saturday night.
According to WKRN, the initial two-vehicle crash took place on I-24 eastbound near I-440 when a Honda Civic collided with a Ford Fusion.
When the Nashville Fire Department arrived at the scene, the three occupants of the Honda fled on foot into oncoming traffic.
Two of the occupants were struck by a Chevy SUV. One died at the scene. The other victim was transported to Vanderbilt University Medical Center, where they succumbed to their injuries a short time later.
The third occupant was not injured and remained at the scene. Police say there were signs of impairment.
