NASHVILLE, TN – One person has died after a wrong-way collision on I-24 in the early hours of Saturday morning.
According to FOX 17, the fatal crash took place on I-24 westbound near Lickton Pike around 2:45 AM on January 1st.
An SUV was driving east in the westbound lanes and collided head-on with a pickup truck.
The driver of the pickup truck unfortunately died at the scene.
The driver of the SUV suffered non-life threatening injuries and is currently hospitalized.
Police report that the driver of the SUV showed signs of impairment at the scene. The SUV driver admitted to having eight or nine drinks before driving that night.
Metro police are charging the SUV driver with aggravated vehicular homicide upon their release from the hospital.
