NASHVILLE, TN – One person died and another suffered injuries after a bus collided with a parked car on I-24 early Sunday morning.
According to WSMV, the fatal collision took place on I-24 eastbound near Haywood Lane around 3:15 AM on November 28th.
At the time of the crash, the Honda Civic was parked in an eastbound lane with no lights on. The bus driver reports that they were unable to avoid the parked car in the roadway.
An unidentified occupant of the Honda Civic died at the scene. The second occupant suffered injuries and was taken to Vanderbilt University Medical Center. Their current condition is unknown.
Neither the bus driver nor the eight occupants in the bus at the time suffered injuries.
Tennessee Highway Patrol and Metro police continue to investigate the fatal accident.
Police state that there was evidence of alcohol consumption inside the Honda Civic. The second occupant of the vehicle may be charged pending the investigation.
