NASHVILLE, TN – A semi-truck driver has been charged in connection to a fatal collision on I-24 in February.
According to WKRN, a 59-year-old woman died after her vehicle was rear-ended by the tractor-trailer near the I-65 split.
Police say the 65-year-old man behind the wheel of the truck failed to apply his brakes in time and crashed into the back of a Nissan, which was then pushed into the victim’s vehicle.
The force of the impact sent the victim’s car into a pickup truck and another semi. She was pronounced dead at the scene.
In total, six vehicles were involved in the crash and four people were sent to the hospital with unknown injuries.
The driver of the semi was booked into the Metro jail on Tuesday and is facing a number of charges, including one count of vehicular homicide, four counts of felony assault with a deadly weapon, and three counts of felony aggravated assault.
