NASHVILLE, TN – Two passengers suffered serious injuries after a single-vehicle DUI crash on I-40 Tuesday night.
According to WKRN, the crash took place on I-40 westbound near exit 209 A on February 1st.
The driver reportedly lost control of the vehicle and crashed into a guardrail. The driver and the two passengers, one of whom is underage, then fled the scene on foot.
Metro police apprehended the driver and passengers near Lafayette and 8th Avenue South shortly after the crash. The underage passenger was unconscious and being carried by the driver at this point.
The driver showed serious signs of impairment and admitted to consuming alcohol earlier in the night. They have been charged with driving on a suspended license, leaving the scene of an accident, and DUI involving injuries to a child.
Both passengers were transported to Vanderbilt University Medical Center. Their current conditions are unknown.
